Your Union’s Best Friend

The all-in-one platform that runs your local — rosters, voting, communications, payroll, grievances, and an AI that actually knows your contract. Loyal to members, built by members. Invite only — for fire, police, and every local in between.

Loyal by design

A union runs on trust. So does a good dog.

LABOR.DOG is built, maintained, and owned by union members — not some outside tech company chasing your dues. It’s the loyal partner that never clocks out: it guards your records, fetches the answer buried in your contract, and stands watch over every vote. Built for fire and police locals first, open to every labor union. Access is exclusive to verified locals. Period.

The flagship feature

Your contract, answered in seconds.

Upload your collective bargaining agreement, your fire department policies, SOPs, past grievance rulings — whatever your local lives by. LABOR.DOG reads all of it and becomes an expert on your contract.

  • Win grievances faster Describe the situation and get the exact articles, past precedent, and language that backs your member up — with citations to the page it came from.
  • Walk into negotiations prepared Compare clauses, surface what you gave up last cycle, and model proposals against the language already on the books.
  • Answer any member question Steward gets a call at 2am about overtime, bid rights, or leave? Ask in plain English and get the answer, sourced from your documents.
  • And it takes action, not just answers Tell it to update a member’s standing, text a shift, or publish a page on your public site — it proposes the change, shows a preview, and only runs it once you confirm.

The systems behind the day-to-day.

Elections, your membership roll, grievances, meetings, communications, a public website, and document storage — each one built for how locals actually run. Here’s what they do and how they fit together.

Elections & voting

Run a vote your members actually trust.

Secret ballots, eligibility rules, quorum tracking, and a tamper-evident audit trail. Members vote from their phone in under a minute, and the tally updates live the moment a ballot lands — no spreadsheets, no “trust me”.

Every voter gets a receipt confirming their ballot counted — without ever revealing how they voted.

Public website

A public face for your local, no web designer needed.

Stand up a public marketing site on your own labor.dog address — pages, a menu, a media library, and a working contact form. Tell the public who you are, post events and press releases, and route inbound questions straight to your inbox. Build it page by page, or just tell the AI what to publish.

Fast, cookieless, and brand-aware — it carries your colors, logo, and font out of the box.

Grievances

Never blow a grievance on a missed deadline.

File for a member, a group, or the Union, then work it through a step-by-step process that matches your contract — configurable steps, responders, and working-day windows. Every step shows an advisory countdown and a full, auditable history, so nothing slips through the cracks.

Deadlines are advisory by design — the committee always decides — and the AI assistant pulls the exact articles and past rulings that back your member up.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is labor.dog?

labor.dog is an all-in-one management platform for local unions. It runs your roster and org chart, compliant elections and votes, SMS and email to members, payroll entry, grievance tracking, meeting notes, and secure document storage — tied together by an AI assistant trained on your own contract and policies.

Who can use labor.dog?

Access is invite only and limited to verified local unions. There are no public sign-ups. We built it for fire and police locals first, where the stakes are highest, but every labor local is welcome by invitation.

Is labor.dog affiliated with my national or international union?

No. labor.dog is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with any national or international union or labor organization. It is built to support local unions directly, and it is owned and maintained by union members — not an outside tech company chasing your dues.

What can the AI contract assistant do?

Upload your collective bargaining agreement, department policies, SOPs, and past grievance rulings, and the assistant becomes an expert on your contract. Ask any question in plain English and get an answer with citations back to the exact page — so you can win grievances faster, prepare for negotiations, and answer member questions at any hour.

Can the AI actually do things, or just answer questions?

Both. Beyond answering questions about your contract, the assistant can take real action across the platform — update a member's standing, text a shift, publish a page on your public site, start a vote. It always proposes the exact change and shows a preview first; nothing runs until you confirm, it can only do what your own permissions allow, and every action is logged to the audit trail.

Does labor.dog include a public website for our local?

Yes. Every local can publish a public marketing site on its own labor.dog address — pages, a navigation menu, a media library, and a working contact form, all brand-aware with your colors, logo, and font. Build it page by page in the editor or have the AI assistant publish it for you. It's fast and cookieless by design.

How do you track who is actually a member?

The Membership roster is an auditable record of every member and their standing — active, retired, or inactive — kept separately from login accounts so dues status and eligibility stay accurate. It supports card numbers, CSV import, bulk status changes, and print-ready PDF rosters, and every status change is recorded with its effective date.

How does voting stay compliant and anonymous?

Elections use secret ballots with eligibility rules, quorum tracking, and a tamper-evident audit trail. Members vote from their phone and receive a receipt confirming their ballot was counted — without ever revealing how they voted.

How does grievance tracking work?

File a grievance for a member, a group, or the Union and work it through a configurable, multi-step workflow that matches your CBA — your own steps, responders, and working-day deadlines. Every step shows an advisory countdown, the full history is auditable, and deadlines never auto-deny anything: the committee always decides. The AI assistant ties straight in, surfacing the exact contract articles and past rulings that back your member up.

Can labor.dog handle our meetings and minutes?

Yes. Build agendas from your bylaws, track quorum and attendance, and record motions and votes live — Robert's Rules out of the box, with officer and committee reports pulled from your org chart. Unfinished business carries forward to the next meeting automatically, adopted minutes lock for the record (LMRDA retention), and you can export clean minutes to PDF or Word. The AI can even turn a raw meeting transcript into structured minutes in one pass.

Do you have a tool to edit Word docs or PDFs?

No. You can upload and view documents in labor.dog, and we have a dedicated system so the AI can learn from them and answer questions about them — but we don't do document editing. For that we recommend Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, which are really the only tools you should be using here. Most city governments already run one of them, so your future union members and leaders most likely do too — follow best practice and follow suit.

Do you offer email service or hosted mailboxes?

No, and that's deliberate — it isn't smart. When you email a state senator or a government account, what matters most is that the message actually lands in their inbox. Reliable deliverability to those accounts depends on a trusted, established email provider, so we recommend using one like Google Workspace for your local's mailboxes rather than rolling our own.

Is our data secure and private?

Yes. Every local's data is isolated, access is controlled by role, and sensitive files like grievances and legal documents are limited to the officers who should see them. No outside vendors poke around your data.

Invite Only

Access is earned, not bought.
